The EVLD02-II is an assembled and tested evaluation board that demonstrates the basic functionality of the IXLD02 high-speed laser diode driver IC and serves as a development tool for the engineer designing with the device.
The IXLD02 is designed to drive single junction laser diodes at a typical 500 mA of diode current in a differential fashion. This technique provides the highest possible slew rate across the diode resulting in pulse widths of less than 2 ns at frequencies up to 17 MHz. The low-inductance surface mount package includes a metalized heatsink tab on the bottom for high power operation. Real-time programming of the control current inputs allows simultaneous modulation of the frequency, width, and amplitude of the pulse stream.
Applications for the IXLD02 include LIDAR, range finding, object detection, and low-power/ultra-fast line drivers, pulse generators, and frequency modulators.
